A wave or a water horse? This piece was inspired by Scottish folklore of a mythical shape-shifting spirit known as a Kelpie.
This original 4×6 inch watercolor painting was created as part of my Marine Minis Collection inspired by the wonder and magic of the sea. It has been painted on 100% cotton, cold-press watercolor paper. It comes framed as pictured here in a vintage frame measuring 9×11 inches with a green mat.
I loved creating this collection inspired by the sea with a touch of folklore and whimsy. The sea makes me feel both small and connected to something larger at the same time. Looking out at the water, I imagine both a vastness of space and an abundance of life and I fall in love with the world just a little bit more. I wanted to bring a tiny reminder of that feeling into each piece.
